1/52 hello, again

As you may have noticed, Im not great at this whole blogging thing. I even have some I've written and not posted.  Perhaps you will see those later.  I'm easing back in to the blogging thing with a little challenge. For the new year, I don't really have any resolutions other than to take a photo of the week of Henry.  I'm going to try to use the DSLR as much as possible, but sometimes the old iPhone is just as good and certainly more convenient.

So now that we are in February(oops), I guess I better get to it!

This was Mark's birthday.  We were on our way to a model train expo, because where else would Mark want to spend his birthday?  Henry is still all trains all the time.

Happy Birthday Dad

For this post we are doing a little time travel.  We celebrated my Dad's birthday the day before we left for Ohio, but I didn't upload the pictures until I got home.  Henry drew his first official face on Grandpa's envelope!  I was pretty darn impressed, as he sat there and said "eyes, nose, mouth." and sure enough there they were!  Henry sure loves his Grandpa, and loved helping him blow out his candles! Happy birthday, Pops!

Here's a video of the artist!

Fun with Elena

I took Elena to the park so that Carrie could prepare for the Myles big first birthday party!  Henry and Elena always have a good time.

Henryisms

Henry has been saying some amazingly cute things lately. He has started responding to question about things that happened in the past. For instance, "did you eat all your dinner?" Henry, "yah! I did". I should probably curb the "yah" but it's so darn cute coming from him. He has also started using "oh my goodness!" which never fails to make me laugh. He started compound sentences 2 weeks ago, his first was "The trash truck came, and picked up trash.". So very Henry. I was impressed with his use of passed tense, and an and to top it all off. Plus, I really needed a smile that day. Here are a few recent henryisms...

H- "grandpa's dump truck."
Me- "did you and grandpa see a dump truck?"
H- "yah, it was nice dump trunk."

Before bed Henry and I go through who loves him. He usually says mommy, daddy, grandma, grandpa, banjo, Lucy, Gigi, and Kane. After his usual list, he started with Katie, Uncle Dan, Uncle Andy, Auntie Lori, Auntie Julie... I'm glad he knows how loved he is!

One more cuteness.
"Go to Sea World, see panda bear whales!". Soon H, very soon.

He seems to always be talking about something I could probably do one a day!

The Witching Hour

Every afternoon, there is a moment when everyone runs around in the backyard. The dogs get up after 20 hours of sleep, and Henry gets his last little bit of energy out. As a bonus, the light is usually perfect for pictures. :)
It's Henry's world, we just live in it.
Banjo makes an excellent cup holder!
Amazingly, she stayed put.

measure up

We pulled out Henry's measuring stick, and he's just under 3 feet. The kid is growing like a weed!  An inch since January!

Milk!

Henry will drink anything from a cup, except milk. And this kid loves his milk. I know, i know, he's 2 and should have retired bottles long ago. He loves his bottle, and i suppose I've indulged his vice, it's his last "baby" trait. We haven't pushed real hard on getting him off the bottle. I set a deadline for the middle of June, so I've been a little lazy with my push towards the cup. On Friday, he did it on his own! When given the choice of milk from a cup, or no milk, he put up a fuss, and then grabbed the cup! Hooray! A small break through.

Henry and the pups

Henry loves his dogs. And for the most part, they love him. They are certainly more than tolerant of his antics. It's sweet to see him stop to give them hugs, in addition to sitting on top of them asking for rides. I'm sure there will be many more posts just like this, because it astonished me everyday.

Preserving History

My dad loves classic cars. Mark loves classic cars. Henry is being groomed to love classic cars. I don't think this will be met with much resistance. The classic car show was in Seal Beach, yesterday. Henry loved all the shiny wheels, and Mark and my dad enjoyed pointing out the subtle differences between different years on pretty much any model of car. I think Mark impressed my dad with his knowledge. Three peas in a car filled pod. If anyone has a '49 Ford they are looking to get rid of,I have a husband who will take it off your hands.

I love you!

Henry gave me the greatest wakeup greeting. He looked into my groggy eyes and said "I love you." and even sealed it with a kiss! Such an over achiever. Doesn't he know mother's day is still a week away? Guess he'll just have to figure out way to top it!

Atlantis Nostagia

Today we visited an old stomping ground for me.  Atlantis Park!  I love it's untouched kitchiness.  They have made it a safer than it was in the early eighties, but for the most part, it is pretty much as I remembered.  We took Henry last summer, but this time he was old enough to really love it.  Fun was had by all!

Henry 6 to 12 months

YouTube is not cooperating, so here is the second half.  enjoy!

And for the record, "In the Jungle" was Henry's song choice, not mine.

Henry's first year

My mom and Mark saved me today.  This stupid flu.  I feel okay if I'm in bed, but as soon as I start moving around, my head want to explode and my joints hurt.  This bed rest has given me the time to finally finish Henry's 6 to 12 month video. His 6 month video was finished in a timely fashion, but the second half got delayed due to hard drive malfunction.  Since my blogging skills also got delayed, I'll put both up now.  Hooray one year done!

Splash in the Garden

As you know, Henry likes dirt. I usually trying to avoid him getting dirty right before bed. Today , he decided to put a new spun on his muddy adventures. Instead of wanting to cover himself in dirt, he simply wanted to "splash in the garden." How can say no to that? Maybe he'll be in advertising.

The Best Easter Ever

I'm feeling a bit nostalgic today.  Henry was born the day before Easter, Holy Saturday.  I didn't really hit me around his birthday.  With the blur of parties and illness, I don't think I had time to reflect.  Today, I pulled out a bunch of baby gear for our friend Liv and Jeff's little one on the way. Seeing all the tiny gear, and all the Easter stuff brought me back to that first wonderful Easter.  The day he was born was exhausting, and not at all what I had planned.  On Easter, I was able to enjoy this little tiny miracle.

As much as I loved this tiny little guy, being able to have this conversation is even better!
